By the TAG team
We rarely advertise new Kickstarters, but this time we just had to make an exception. How could we resist, when we are the inspiration! That’s right, you read it correctly,
The Adventure Gamer will get its own adventure game.
The Adventure Gamer 3000 tells the story of Lilah the Lurker, who one day wakes up to the awful reality, in which her favourite adventure game blog has suddenly gone offline. Lilah begins a desperate globetrotting attempt to contact all the reviewers and admin of TAG, before they have all been erased from reality by the evil and maleficent Doctor Dastardious. Will she be able to save Trickster from a fate worse than death and convince him to make one more comeback?
|
You can access the whole world with this easy-to-use interface |
The clever premise of the game is that different countries are represented by different styles of adventure gaming. There's text adventures, with and without pictures, parser and point and click, first person and third person view, 3D, FMV, and almost anything you can think off! You are literally moving through adventure gaming history while playing the game.

Will Lilah be able to convince Trickster to come out of retirement? |
We are sure that many of you are willing to contribute to this event of the century, which will no doubt be inscribed in the annals of adventure games. Still, just to show our support for this Kickstarter, we’ve decided to add some further incentives. All backers will receive a personalized Thank you -letter signed by each and every one of our reviewers. Furthermore, if the producers exceed their planned goal by double, a person will be chosen from among the backers and flown all the way across the globe to the land of great adventure games - France - where she will meet all the reviewers of
The Adventure Gamer and tour around famous places seen in French adventure games. Could there be a cooler prize?
We haven’t yet received the link to the Kickstarter, but the producers say it should be fairly easy to find in
the Kickstarter site. In fact, the first one to send the link to us will get 50 CAPs. Happy hunting!
Well, it actually is a great idea for a game, I would kickstart it xD
ReplyDeleteThat's not a hedgehog, it's a young wild boar. I forget what his name was. Botan?
ReplyDeleteAnd he goes to the same hairdresser as Eddie Munster
DeleteHe's being kept as a pet by a generic tsundere. And to me it feels like it's yet another thing that Clannad casually ripped off from another piece of Japanese pop media (in Ranma 1/2, the tsundere Akane likes to keep Ryoga's piglet form as a pet) instead of any observation of real life.
DeleteYou can blame my inadequate zoology skills. Personally, I couldn't distinguish hedgehog from an aardvark.
DeleteOH. I was going to complain about being trapped in a second-rate text adventure but then I realized what you did there. Very clever!
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely made by famed text adventure authors, so I would not call it second-rate.
DeleteThe only ones I recognize are some variety of Carmen Sandiego and some variety of Leisure Suit Larry. Don't think I'm going to be getting anywhere with this.
ReplyDeleteI'd back it!

ReplyDeleteI'm stuck in a French game? Nooooooo! (I've never actually played Shadow of the Comet, but did recognise the screenshot.)
ReplyDeleteI believe I've found it here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1733517002/that-is-my-sheep?ref=category_newest . I know it technically says "that is my sheep" is the title, but typos do happen.
Haha! It does advertise itself as an endless adventure...
DeleteHaha, wow. How did you know my birthday??
ReplyDeleteOn Kickstarter, it's gotta be this one. The guy's from France! Lol.

That birthday reference just went over my head. So is it that 19th of April that shows on the screenshot?
DeleteAnd those guys seem to need a bit more, before they'll get to their life's adventure.
I'll back this up instantly and start taking pictures of France, the cradle of great adventure games, in case they need it for reference and 3D modelling! Go kickstarter!
ReplyDeleteI am certain that they would just love some pictures of all the places shown in Bargon Attack.
DeleteI like how I'm featured just before Trickster, even though my résumé contains no more than 2 posts thus far.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, Norway has approx. 1190 fjords, so good luck finding me!
It's not the quantity but quality that counts.
DeleteSince this is not meant to be reality, but just a good simulation of it, I suppose four fjords will be quite enough.
But maybe more fjords could be a stretch goal?
