I loved it, and everyone I know that's about my age (40s) has it in their cultural lexicon in sort of a package with The Last Unicorn, The Dark Crystal, The Neverending Story, and maybe The Secret of NIMH, all of which were around the same time. I have no idea how many times I've watched Labyrinth.

When I give him a dollar he gives me a hint: plastics. I remember having this game as a kid and playing it one or two times in my C64, but can't remember why it didn't hooked me. Several months later, i got Maniac Mansion and that's where i got hooked for life. I only remember from this game that image of the Bowie character saying "You, Leo, on the front row", that scared me a lot. Maybe that's why i never played it again. Well, i was eleven or twelve at that time and i played it at night on an old black & white tv....
