When the Empire collapsed, why would anyone stay in the underground tunnels when they can live above ground?Joe Pranevichhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12997014242774219758noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3387495443226852794.post-71817423883061250662017-10-13T04:53:19.532+11:002017-10-13T04:53:19.532+11:00"I’m just shocked it’s still open. Didn’t the Empire collapse hundreds of years ago?"

I don't really get why a destruction of an empire would lead to closing off of an amusement park. I mean, Austro-Hungarian empire collapsed soon after World War I, but Viennese Prater, the oldest amusement park in the world, is still as alive as it was at the time of Habsburg rule.

I always got the impression of the collapse of GUE that it mostly affected the Flathead dynasty (which perished) and some locations that were central to their rule (like the area around Aragain Falls, which appears to be rather desolate place after the collapse), but in other locations people could well have continued living their lives more or less peacefully. Even FrobozzCo seems to have survived the collapse (or otherwise the majority share of its stocks you receive at the end of Zork III wouldn't make much of a sense as a treasure), so there might not have even been any noticeable economic slump.Ilmari Jauhiainenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01655841880034965950noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3387495443226852794.post-968751130793691372017-10-13T03:19:41.039+11:002017-10-13T03:19:41.039+11:00No, there's something else going on with the t...No, there's something else going on with the trunk. When I was writing this up, I tried to just immediately wake up ("kill me" works but "wake up" doesn't, as you suggest. I found that but neglected to write anything about it) then go open the journal and bee-line to the basement to open the trunk. Each time, that didn't work. Either there's a delay, something else you have to do, or a bug that was preventing it from opening. But when I replayed the whole thing (getting the potion, etc), then the trunk opens.

For everyone else: "wake up" if used immediately in the dream gets you up BEFORE the picnic that everyone else goes on. As a result, you go on the picnic and have a good time... only to be killed a few fays later by the demon when he takes over the world.

I'll talk about the Dungeon puzzle(s) in more detail in a subsequent post since (as you know), there's the OTHER final Dungeon puzzle in this game a bit later...Joe Pranevichhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12997014242774219758noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3387495443226852794.post-59739267243703447592017-10-13T03:08:11.781+11:002017-10-13T03:08:11.781+11:00Also: "aimfiz" is "zifmia" bac...Also: "aimfiz" is "zifmia" backwards. I expect that's why you couldn't open the trunk on a replay - rotgrub wasn't the "right combination" then. Though now I'm curious whether brute forcing all the Infotater sequences can get you through without opening the journal. I'll have to test that.

- Good job on getting the vilstu potion. I suspect this puzzle owes a debt to Dungeon's "send brochure" last lousy point.

- For your amusement: try "WAKE UP" as your very first command (after a restart).
Voltglosshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07893726442063421240noreply@blogger.com
