This is a physical representation of the virtual Adventure Gamer office right now. Yes, I'm a very good exaggerator!
I know what you're thinking. You're thinking "why are you telling us all this Tricky, and where are the freebies?"! Well, the outcome of our previous system is that there are quite a few unclaimed prizes. I'm now offering those prizes up to anybody that wants them. If you haven't played these classics, you really should! Now...who wants an absolutely free game? One game per reader obviously!
One copy of the Space Quest Collection 1 + 2 + 3 (from GOG)
One copy of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (from Steam)
Two copies of Loom (from Steam)
Two copies of the Quest for Glory Collection (from GOG)
Hi Trickster, long time reader, have only commented a couple of times - I'd love QG collection if it was possible.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work, love the blog.
One QfG Collection finds a home! Please send an email to theadventuregamer@gmail.com and I'll reply with your code.
Delete"Most magnificent", eh? I could get used to this, keep'em coming! :p
ReplyDeleteSeriously though, these are good games, looking for good homes that would appreciate them. All house trained, and they play nicely with any other games you may already have in your household. Even though some of them show their age, they still have many good years in front of them.
Don't hesitate, adopt a game today for the low, low price of free!*
*no additional purchases necessary
I'd like the Quest for Glory series. I haven't played the 5th one.
ReplyDeleteThat's both QfG Collections gone! I'll send your code shortly Laukku.
DeleteI have played Last Crusade previously, but if nobody else wants it I'll happily add it to my own "to blog about" list. Only if no one else does.
ReplyDeleteI will keep this one on hold for a bit. If no-one else bags it before the end of the day, it's yours.
DeleteI'll throw my hat in the ring for Space Quest collection -- what have I done to earn it? Wake up early enough to be a commentor here before all the prizes were claimed!
ReplyDeleteThe Space Quest Collection has been claimed! Please send an email to theadventuregamer@gmail.com and I'll reply with your code.
DeleteI've watched this blog for a while, but never actually played the games. If I could, I'd like the Quest For Glory collection.
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid both copies have already been claimed.
DeleteThere will be plenty of opportunities to win one coming up though.
I assume this is first come, first served, but if it's random, I'd like QfG, too, or SQ.
ReplyDeleteSadly, both copies have already been claimed.
DeleteI've looked into it and discovered that my original CD-ROM copy of Loom is actually scratched to death, making me want to ask for it to round out my collection. (My copy of the QFG Anthology actually warranted a CD restoration before the advent of GoG - it came without 5, and it almost looked like it had gone out of print when I had it done. It's probably not a collectors item or anything, and I definitely still use the GoG version should I want to play them again - but I still have the CD safely tucked away in a pouch. In case the Internet shuts down and all.)
ReplyDeleteWell no-one else has claimed Loom yet, so there's one coming your way Aperama.
DeleteSo...that leaves one copy of Loom and one copy of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (which will go to xyzzysqrl if no-one else wants it).
ReplyDeleteAny takers?
If there are none, my email's xyzzysqrl@gmail.com (amazing, right?) and thank you very much. When I start writing it up (this may not happen for months, I have quite a backlog and I'm being lazy right now), I'll drop a note in your comments.
DeleteThere have been no other takers, so xyzzysqrl gets Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. I'll email you the link shortly.
DeleteThe Runaway trilogy (Runaway: A Road Adventure, Runaway 2: The Dream of the Turtle and Runaway 3: A Twist of Fate) is now 70% off on GoG: http://www.gog.com/promo/gem_promo_runaway_trilogy_stacking_promo_190514
ReplyDeleteOnly for the next 4.5 hours though, better get on it fast!
New adventure games!
DeleteParadigm Shift: Looks like a horror game, but the inventory at the top of the screen with rope and things? Total adventure game. I like the art style, but the individual scenes look a bit bland. On the other hand, it is also very cheap. http://store.steampowered.com/app/299820
The Last Door - Season One or The Last Door - Collector's Edition, the Steam page is unclear. Annoying "8-bit" art style (Giant pixels, but too many colours and sprites for true 8-bit. Also I think most of the CGA games we saw had better art), but lots of praise and such on the steam page. I'm not sure it is OUR type of adventure though; sadly that is such a generic term now. However, the style of cursor leads me to belive it is, doubly so as none of the screenshots show minigames or a weapon. http://store.steampowered.com/app/284390
Stranded: Another point & click with pixel art. This one however, uses a decent resolution and doesn't scream "LOOK AT ME! I'M A LOW RES INDIE GAME" nearly as loudly. This one looks like a classic adventure game, inventory, cursor, character on screen, etc. It also has the best one-sentance creepy game tagline ever as well: "Do you know what it is to die alone, and so far from home? " http://store.steampowered.com/app/295250
20 sales, 15 new games.
I think I've tried to give at least one of those away before via riddles, but the winners kept not wanting them....
ReplyDeleteI should set up watches on a bunch of adventure games then buy them as gifts when they drop under a dollar, then donate them to Trickster to give away for CAPs....
Did I just make a plan to turn cash into CAPs? *headdesk*
Seriously, no-one wants a free copy of Loom?!
ReplyDeleteWho would have thought it would be so hard to give away one of the most acclaimed adventure games of all time!
Maybe nobody wants the Steam version? The top two user reviews on its Steam store page are negative, including mine which has a 99% usefulness rating so far.
DeleteBut the Steam version is the only readily available (legal) version out there. Other than that it's physical editions on eBay and such.
DeleteMy guess is everyone who wanted it already bought it when it arrived on Steam some years ago or in a subsequent sale.
DeleteI was very surprised to see that three of the five reviews on the front page of Steam rate it "Not recommended" for a game so highly thought of (though admittedly, 2 of those bad reviews were critiquing the version of the game being sold rather than Loom itself) but I doubt that would stop somebody interested in the game from getting a free version, even if just to see how it plays.
Ever wanted to be a cockroach? Bad Mojo, now available on GOG.
Deletehttp://www.gog.com/game/bad_mojo_redux
Bad Mojo! Thanks, TBD, it was marked as red in my library spreadsheet, now it's green. 5 CAPs from me to you! (A little help, Trickster?)
DeleteHi Trickster, love the blog. Been an adventure game fan since King's Quest I and have been really enjoying reading your posts. I'd be happy to snag that remaining copy of Loom if it's still up for grabs. It's actually one of the few games of that era I've never played through and it'd be fun to take a crack at it.
ReplyDeleteAll freebies have been claimed! :)
DeleteGah! A trip to China and I missed getting Loom! Curses! XD
DeleteAdventure game promo on GOG this weekend.
